How much does it cost?
I offer numerous entertainment packages for children’s b-day parties. For complete details, including pricing, simply fill out this quick and easy form:
How much space do you need?
Not much at all. For my equipment and props I need about a 5 ‘ by 5 ‘ area. Usually, your living room is a perfect place for this. Other than that, an area right in front of my performing area for the children to sit and enjoy the show or line up and gather to be painted, drawn or receive a balloon design is all that is needed.
Do you need a table or chairs?
A table is not necessary, I bring my own, and I even bring my own special chair when face painting but when drawing Caricatures I do request that you provide me with up to three chairs. One for me and two for the guests as many enjoy being drawn as a pair.
Can you perform the show outdoors?
Yes I can providing the weather is decent. If the wind is blowing, that can be too much as some of my props and equipment are very light and will blow away. If it is raining or too humid the face paint can melt off the children’s faces but please don’t hesitate to ask me about my amazing water proof face paint options. It is always safer to have it indoors but who can resist a beautiful day out in the yard or park.
Can we serve the kids food, snacks, and beverages during your show?
Well, it’s your home so you can do whatever you’d like… however, I do recommend serving treats & drinks before or after the show. It’s a HUGE distraction for the kids. Not only eating the snack but then the serving of it and cleaning up that takes place. At this age, they need the least amount of distractions as possible. So I HIGHLY recommend NOT serving goodies during the performance (also because it’s a show based on audience interaction and participation… I need their hands to be free…besides, it could turn messy). However I do not discourage you from serving food and snacks while I Face Paint, Twist Balloons or Draw Caricatures. However I don’t recommend that the guests eat while its there turn.
When should I serve food and cake?
The best time to serve food and cake, is after the magic show or entertainment has concluded. Especially if cake is served before the magic show, it can make it more difficult for kids to stay focused on the magic show, and if served during the artists scheduled time it can reduce the artists ability to paint/draw/or service the maximum number of children/guests at your party.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes! You are required to send half of the deposit to guaranty your selected date is reserved. The rest of your balance is payed on the day of your party. I accept cash, checks, PayPal, and all major credit cards. Check out the online payment center for more info.
Is the show clean and age appropriate?
Yes! I take pride in that my show is specifically geared towards children ages 4-7. Most magicians don’t have an age specific show. I specialize in entertaining children with clean and fun magic. I do however cater to children of all ages when I am Face Painting, Drawing Caricatures, and Twisting Balloons. I am comfortable drawing and painting babies who will sit for me and feel free to hold young children in your lap. Please keep in-mind that balloons are choking hazards and I do not recommend giving twisted balloons to children under age 2 but I can not be held accountable for what a parent does with the balloon after it leaves my hands.
Are Balloons safe for Babies?
No! I would not recommend parents giving there young teething children balloons as they like to chew on them and put objects in their mouths. Balloons as we know can be terrible chocking hazards and for the child’s safety I do not recommend it however I can not be held liable to what a parent does with a balloon design after it leaves my hands.
What kind of paints do you use? Are your paints safe?
Yes! I use only the most professional grade FX face paints and makeup. I use a combination of high quality, non-toxic and hypoallergenic brands and I follow strict sanitation procedures, using cleaning solutions in my water and washing my brushes and sponges with soap and detergent. However every person and child is different and if you know that yours has sensitive skin or something contagious please do not allow them to get painted. That is the parents responsibility.
Is Face Paint safe for Babies?
That is a good Question with no right answer. Some Face Painters will say Yes and others will tell you No. My policy is that as long as my tools are non-toxic and hypoallergenic and kept clean and sanitary it is not a problem as long as the child can sit and is Willing. I will not paint scared or crying children who are being forced to sit i.e. held down by their parents. This is not to be confused with a child that is more comfortable being held on his/her parents lap. A young child that keeps pulling way from my brush or sponge can get hurt so I will put down my brush, complement the child on the great job they did, thank them for trying and remind the parents that next time they will be willing to sit still even longer and we are hear to make fun memories NOT to traumatize.
How many Caricatures can you draw in an hour?
I can draw between 10-12 B&W Face Caricature drawings in one hour, and 7-9 Colored in Faces or Full Bodies.
Do you charge extra for Colored in Caricatures or Full bodies?
I do not charge extra to color in the caricatures or to draw full bodies at the party it just takes more drawing time, I will even come up with custom theme ideas. However if you want me to offer pre-printed/pre-drawn bodies for your party that is extra per design and print.
Do you work off an easel?
Only when the client requests it. Usually I am comfortable sitting at a small table with two chairs places across from me but when that classic look/ambiance is preferred I will set up my wooden easel at no extra fee.
What size Sheet are Caricatures Drawn on?
I draw all my Caricatures on 11×14″ sheets of paper.
Do you provide Bags or Frames for Caricature drawings?
Each drawing is sent home in a heavy plastic bag at no additional fee. I do offer Mat Frames at a bulk rate of $5 per Frame.
How many Faces can you paint per hour?
That all depends on the intricacy of the design and although I can speed paint up to 20+ children in an hour I do not recommend it because a big part of what I offer is an experience which they will not receive if I’m cranking them in and out of the chair like a conveyer belt. What I recommend is no more then 10 to 15 kids in an hour and for deluxe designs my rate begins with 10 children.
When’s a good time to have you begin your show?
A good general rule of thumb is to have my show begin about a half hour after the party is to begin. This prevents distractions from late arriving guests. The same holds true for all of my entertainment options. Depending on which package you go with, the show lasts anywhere from 40 to several hours.
I’m celebrating more than one child’s birthday, can you still entertain at our party?
Yes! I then have all of the b-day children be the stars of the show. Everything else is the same except we have a few more lucky participants!
Do you know of any sources for birthday party goodies like plates, napkins, hats, etc.?
Yes! There is a great place called Birthday Express that gets nothing but rave revues from other moms. Check it out now!
*Important: Can we hire you to entertain our children in one room while all of the adults hang out in another room?
Due to liability issues, I do require that all of the children be supervised at all times by at least one responsible adult (besides me). I simply can’t be held responsible for supervising them. This is to protect you, the children and myself.
Can we invite young infants and babies to the party?
Since it’s your party, you may do whatever you’d like. I find that babies are a great source of joy and there is always a place for them at the party but please take their number into account because many parents want to have their infants faces painted, have them drawn or even ask for a balloon. This can eat into the time you hired me to entertain the children old enough to appreciate my party art. However I am happy to make a parents day and the entertainment is truly there for everyones experience young and Adult. However, I do recommend NOT having children under the age of 3 present during the magic show, only because they often are a distraction to the children and adults who are trying to enjoy the magic show. Same thing goes with your pets. Please keep your pets in a separate area (sorry Tinker Bell).
Can we give the goodie bags to children under the age of 3?
I can’t control what happens after I leave the party but please don’t give the goodie bags to children under the age of the 3. There are small parts in there and I’d rather be safe than sorry. Also, please read above question.
